The unknown commentator was talking about the movie, not about JAWS, the Journalists' Association of Western Samoa, though this is about both as they are celebrating their fiftieth anniversaries this year. Unlike the movie, the Samoan JAWS was trying to be scary because of what it did and what it was seen to be doing.

Pickleball is sweeping across the world, and Samoa is making sure it does not get left behind. This week, Samoan athletes have taken the court in Florida, USA, competing in a major international tournament that leads into the 2025 Pickleball World Cup. Samoa will field both an Open Team and a Senior Team, proudly wearing Samoan colors on one of the sport’s biggest stages. What started as a backyard pastime in the United States has rapidly become one of the fastest growing sports worldwide.
