Iqra Salah is an investigative journalist and has worked with Pulitzer Center, Berkeleyside, Environmental Health News and Al-Jazeera.

She recently graduated from UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism focusing on investigative storytelling and Open Source research.

Prior to Berkeley, she worked as a reporter and researcher for the BBC in Nairobi, Kenya, where she covered important issues across Africa. Salah has also worked with CNN as a field producer and helped cover the 2017 Kenyan elec…

2021

After graduating from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in her native Kenya, Iqra spent several years as a freelance field producer for CNN and as a reporter/researcher for the BBC covering breaking news in East and Central Africa. Among her investigative pieces, she uncovered the story of infanticide in Kibera, Africa’s largest urban slum, especially among young rape victims. In a short video she submitted, she interviewed two young women who described their hopelessness and desperation. She next plans to travel to Senegal to document the untold story there.

2022 - Investigative Journalism

University of California Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism Fellow to report on statelessness in Zimbabwe. Iqra's project looked at what stateless people in Zimbabwe have access to, the challenges they face, and the hurdles to citizenship legislation in the country.
