France was the first state to impose a sustainability due diligence duty on its companies through a law of 27 March 20171 called a “duty of vigilance”2. But its only quite recently that the first case law was handed down, outlining the contours of the duty of vigilance and in particular the procedural aspects of enforcement.

European Union: Commission publishes Market Integration & Supervision Package of reforms

On 4 December 2025 the European Commission published the Market Integration & Supervision (MIS) Package, a comprehensive suite of proposals aimed at deepening EU financial services integration as part of the Savings and Investments Union (SIU) strategy. The package includes two proposed regulations and one proposed directive, collectively amending 19 pieces of EU legislation.
