April 2, 2026, 1:18 p.m. ET A new Ohio law has sparked debate about mandated driving courses and the costs associated with them. The law requires those under age 21 complete a 50-hour driving course to obtain a license. Formerly, only individuals younger than 18 were required to take these driving courses. Nearly 60% of fatal crashes caused by a teen driver in 2024 involved 18- and 19-year-olds, according to the Ohio Traffic Safety Office.

Libraries are more than just repositories of books and media. They are looked at as lifelines, offering free educational resources, access to technology and a safe space for people of all ages. In central Ohio, the Columbus Metropolitan Library provides services aimed at bridging gaps in education, health resources and social connection across Franklin County. For some Columbus residents, the library is their primary access point for technology.
