Experience of patients with restraints in acute care hospitals and the view of their relatives: A qualitative study
1 INTRODUCTION The EU Charter of Fundamental Rights (Article 3) emphasises that physical and mental integrity must be respected (European Union, 2012). Since restraining measures violate this high good of humanity, they may only be used as a last resort.
