During Saturday’s auction (May 20) around 1,000 lots were up for sale, and the event had a record number of car boot vendors join the day.

Southampton council approves new combined authority

Southampton Civic Centre Yesterday, Southampton City Council and Isle of Wight Council debated the proposal of a Solent Combined Authority. A nearly full cabinet meeting at Southampton’s Civic Centre last night saw great support being given to the ‘super council’ – which would combine Southampton City Council, Portsmouth City Council and Isle of Wight Council. Both the Labour Council and Conservative Council agreed that the benefits of the new authority outweighed any negatives.
