Saturday saw showers in the Treasure Valley to close out Spring. Summer heat moves in soon with chances at Triple digits this week! Red Flag Warnings ended at 6 p.m. for parts of southern Idaho as thunderstorms rolled in over the border of Nevada. A lot of lightning strikes hit throughout the day, so eyes will be on parts of Oregon, Nevada, and Idaho to see if any wildfire activity kicks up from the weather event.

As the first day of summer gets closer, temperatures continue to climb. During this time of year, the National Weather Service (NWS) regularly issues Red Flag Warnings, but what does that mean? The simplest way to explain is when it gets very dry, very windy and very warm at the same time, fuel is present. Fuel is considered anything that wildfires can quickly catch.

We are in the final week of spring, and temperatures are set to spring into summer-like ranges over these final days of the season. This weekend brought clear skies and 80s to both valley floors, and those blue sky days are here to stay. What will change is how warm it will soon be. Mid to upper 90s will take over the I-84 corridor from Ontario to Mountain Home. Twin Falls will stay a bit cooler with mostly upper 80s but still warm. How hot will it be?
