Throughout the last decade, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has been slowly but consistently replacing surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) as the preferred treatment strategy for patients suffering from severe aortic stenosis. During the early stages, only small percentage of patients were considered candidates for TAVR based on their high surgical risk.
