Italo Vignoli’s Biography

Italo has been writing about technology since 1979, when he become a freelance journalist immediately after his graduation in humanities. After 25 years he has discovered open source software, and has started writing about it on a regular basis. He is old and grumpy, especially with clueless PR flacks. He is not going to cover announcements coming from proprietary software companies using open source as a fig leaf to disguise their hate for the community.

What was your first job as a journalist?

I have always been a freelancer.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Of course, I was born a long time before the first PC.

How is social media changing news?

Completely, although not always for the better.
