A population-based and repeated cross-sectional analysis was performed using data from the 72 waves (from 2005 to 2022) of Mexico’s National Occupation and Employment Survey (ENOE) (available at https://www.inegi.org.mx/programas/enoe/15ymas/). This survey implemented every trimester since 2005, is the primary source of standardised information on the Mexican labour market, occupation, labour informality, underemployment, and unemployment among the population aged 15 and over.

Abstract Background The close link between human resources for health and the performance of health systems calls for a comprehensive study of the labor market. This paper proposes a performance metric for the nursing labor market, measures its magnitude and analyzes its predictors over the last 15 years. Design and methods A repeated cross-sectional analysis using data from the quarterly population-based National Survey of Occupation and Employment 2005–2019 (ENOE in Spanish).

Abstract Background Precarization of labor conditions has been expanding over the last three decades as a consequence of global economic transformations. The health workforce labor market is exposed to these transformations as well. In Mexico, analyses of the nursing labor market have documented high levels of unemployment and underemployment; however, precarization has been not considered as a relevant indicator in these analyses.
