Izzy Nicholls’s Biography

Izzy Nicholls is a British travel writer, author and co-founder of The Gap Decaders, an independent travel website specialising in European road trips, motorhome and campervan travel, overlanding and long-term travel.

Izzy and her husband Phil left the UK in 2018 after selling their home and possessions to spend a year travelling around Europe in a motorhome. That year developed into a completely different way of life, and they have since travelled extensively across Europe and beyond by motorhome, overland truck and motorcycle.

Izzy's writing is based largely on first-hand travel experience, with particular expertise in European road trips, motorhome travel, overlanding, off-grid living and the practicalities of long-term travel. Her work has also covered European driving and touring regulations, post-Brexit travel and the Schengen 90/180-day rule.

Alongside writing for The Gap Decaders, Izzy's travel writing has been published by KAYAK, Euronews, Goats On The Road, The Planet D, Touring Magazine and other travel publications. She and The Gap Decaders have also been featured or quoted by National Geographic Traveller, The Telegraph, The i Paper, Daily Mail and Euronews.

Izzy is the co-author of Selling Up to Live in a Motorhome and also writes contemporary women's fiction under the pen name Izzy Kelly.
