Man left threatening voicemail at Pa. governor’s office, said he wanted to ‘destroy the Commonwealth,’ state police say
BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are accusing a man of leaving a threatening voicemail at Gov. Josh Shapiro’s office. Theodore David Knott III, 38, of Roaring Township in Blair County, was taken into custody, state police said in a news release. State police said Shapiro’s office received the voicemail on Sept. 3 shortly before 2 p.m. Staff members discovered and played the message, then reported the incident to state police, according to the news release.
Annual Ride for the River event returns to Montgomery County
POTTSTOWN, Pa. — Schuylkill River Greenways’ annual Ride for the River will return to Montgomery County on Saturday, September 19. Event organizers say cyclists will enjoy a scenic ride on the Schuylkill River Trail while supporting both the river and the trail. VIENNA (AP) — The U.N. atomic watchdog’s board on Wednesday reported Iran to the U.N. Security Council for the first time in 20 years for failure to cooperate in a long-running investigation into uranium traces detected by inspectors at various undeclared sites in Iran. Twenty-three countries on the IAEA’s 35-member board of governors voted for the resolution at IAEA headquarters in Vienna.
Funding to boost crime victims’ services at Lehigh Valley organizations
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Four Lehigh Valley nonprofit organizations are getting a big financial boost to help with their crime victims’ services. The groups were awarded funding totaling $1,610,259 from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), according to a news release from Sen. Lisa Boscola’s (D)-18) office. Boscola said funding awarded for crime victim programs serving Northampton County include: · Crime Victims Council of Lehigh Valley, Inc.
