1 Introduction Cancer cell evolution and tumour heterogeneity are among the greatest challenges in cancer treatment, fueling both innate and adaptive responses to anti-cancer drugs. Gain-of-function mutations of oncogenes and drug resistance genes, as well as downregulation of tumour suppressor genes, are among the genetic changes that contribute to this adaptability.
