Innes Ireland earned his fame in the industry as a winning Formula 1 driver and then a journalist for ESPN and Road & Track. Before all of that, though, he raced this Lotus 15. During 1959 Ireland served as a works driver for Lotus in both Formula 1 and 2. Thus, he had the opportunity to race this works entry, winning at the Crystal Palace twice.
