The Mankato YMCA absolutely did the right thing in canceling the event sponsored by the Center for the American Experiment. It is one of the most divisive organizations in the country. They have led an assault on public schools throughout the U.S. for years. They attack teachers and their unions. They push voucher systems and undermine locally-elected school boards and are always advocating for less resources in public schools.

Please for the sake of our children, our teachers and our schools vote for Erin Roberts, Christopher Kind, Liz Ratcliff and Tracy Frederick Corcoran for the District 77 Board — a board for all the students of the district.

One of the great everyday joys in life is sitting with a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper to keep up with what is happening in our community. Whether it is the acting companies, music events or athletic games in the area The Free Press is the only place for in-depth reporting and analysis for our area. I find it is particularly fun to read about one of my neighbors’ athletic exploits. Her success in volleyball and softball is the result of years of hard work.
