No racial disparities in prostate cancer-specific mortality after biochemical recurrence following radical prostatectomy or radiation therapy
Abstract Racial disparities in prostate cancer are well-documented, with Black men experiencing twice the mortality of White men. While prior studies suggest these disparities reflect inequitable access rather than biology, only few studies have examined this in the biochemical recurrence setting, where screening and initial treatment biases are eliminated.

Voters should keep all students in mind
Please for the sake of our children, our teachers and our schools vote for Erin Roberts, Christopher Kind, Liz Ratcliff and Tracy Frederick Corcoran for the District 77 Board — a board for all the students of the district.
Invest in community, support The Free Press
One of the great everyday joys in life is sitting with a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper to keep up with what is happening in our community. Whether it is the acting companies, music events or athletic games in the area The Free Press is the only place for in-depth reporting and analysis for our area. I find it is particularly fun to read about one of my neighbors’ athletic exploits. Her success in volleyball and softball is the result of years of hard work.
Benefit managers aim to deny treatment
Pharmacy benefit managers or benefit managers are evil. They exist strictly to deny and delay treatment/medication you and your doctor have agreed upon. They are the death panels that people opposed to government health care warned about, but are being used by private insurance companies. Stop and think how these companies are being paid. They are paid out of our premiums.
Referendum resulted from community process
I am writing to urge people to support the community’s upcoming Mankato schools referendum. This process started in 2017 when parents started to advocate for improvements to the schools. In 2019, the School Board heeded these parents and began the process in earnest. The board held numerous discussions and focus groups as well as several open houses. They contacted all the shareholders in the district. Together the plan was formed. Everyone was given a chance to participate.

Schuck, Sapp, Baker deserve support
One of the most critical elections in the upcoming election cycle is that of our School Board. Kristy Schuck and Jodi Sapp have shown tremendous courage in stepping up to run again for the School Board. They were harassed and bullied by extremists last winter and still they are willing to serve. They have earned another term. Their leadership will be crucial going forward. A recent new member of the board deserves a chance to show what he can do.
Raising wages for state's caregivers is the right thing to do
My fellow Minnesotans, we are in a crisis and it is past time to address it. The most vulnerable of our people cannot survive unless we take action. People of faith and decency need to band together to demand we raise the wages of the folks that take care of our developmentally disabled, our physically disabled, the elderly and the mentally ill. They work hard and do so with kindness and compassion! This is pro-life, pro-family and is morally the right thing to do.
OPINION EXCHANGE | Home health assistance: Does Minnesota value kindness and compassion?
Home health aides and personal care attendants are being held in poverty while they serve our most vulnerable citizens. These are the folks who take care of people with developmental and physical disabilities, those with mental illness, and our elderly. They do so with kindness and compassion. How do we reward these angels? In greater Minnesota, pay averages $11 per hour. That should be an embarrassment to the entire state.
