Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

My first "job" as a journalist was writing opinion for Lone Conservative starting in August 2019.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No, but it seems really fun.

How is social media changing news?

Social media is simultaneously making news instantaneous and increasing misinformation ten-fold.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

#Abbott is a Democrat, even though the entire trend was so misinformed.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I really only use WordPress to actually write articles, but Trello and Slack are also very useful organizational tools.

Who do you wish followed you?

Nick Freitas would be cool to have a follow from.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I did not, because my high school didn't have a newspaper until beyond the point where I could write for them.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

The story I'm most proud of is an opinion piece I wrote for the Lone Conservative, called "Stop Voting for the Status Quo."

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

If you can't find your niche at first, just write about anything. People are hungry for stories. Capitalize on that until you figure it out.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Church, or somewhere playing guitar.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Washington Examiner
