Have you ever used a typewriter?
No.
How is social media changing news?
It's become extremely reaction based. It's all about headlines and clickbait because the average person doesn't look deeper than that.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
I don't know. I guess Clark Kent, but I can't really think of many.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To be truthful, but to also hook readers based on your style, honesty, and skill.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
I can't say I've seen anything that stands out, but that is probably because I have a particularly dry sense of humor.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I don't know. I've never been in that position.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I really just use google docs to write pretty much everything. The only other tool I use Pixlr to re-size and create images for my articles.
Who do you wish followed you?
Definitely some big time entertainment journalists. the kind of people I can look towards for advice and can help my career continue to grow.
Why did you become a journalist?
Because I've never wanted to work a 9-5, and getting to write about the things I enjoy while getting paid to do so is a dream come true.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did briefly write for my High School sports paper and I also helped with filming and production with my high school news club for a bit.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Any of the articles I've highlighted on my TheGamer profile. I feel like those four are my best pieces yet.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Just keep writing and never settle. Keep looking for the best opportunity out there, because you never know.
When's the best time to pitch you?
During the afternoon, but really anytime works well enough.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
I've never gotten any pitches.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
While I have gotten no pitches myself, I've certainly seen my fair share of questionable ones.
What's your favorite drink?
I'm a big time coffee drinker. I really go for a Dunkin Mocha Latte.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Playing games, watching movies and baseball, or hanging out with friends and family.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That everyone who writes for them is just a soulless content farmer who doesn't care about what they're doing.
