What was your first job as a journalist?
I don't know if it's considered a "job" but I was part of a local newspaper's teen program as a kid, and had a few articles published!

J. Jonah Jameson, although he's a great example of how NOT to be a journalist.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means staying aware of everything happening around you and understanding how to translate it for your audience.
Why did you become a journalist?
I love to write!
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did, as a writer mostly covering school plays and events.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
I love being outdoors whenever possible. Hiking, backpacking, offroading, etc.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
There are way too many to list, depending on what I'm looking to learn more about. Offhand, a few are BarBend, Jalopnik and Tiny Buddha.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
The closest thing I have to a "beat" is men's lifestyle, which can be pretty all-encompassing. Everything is more connected than we realize.
