Dirigo comes alive late to win Class C softball state title over Bucksport

BREWER -- The Dirigo softball team beat Bucksport 5-1 on Saturday afternoon to win the Class C softball state championship. In the top of the first, Abby Luczynski knocked a sac-fly to right field, which scored Nikol Turnbull to give Dirigo a 1-0 lead. Bucksport would limit the damage in that inning, not allowing another run, then strike in the bottom of the frame. Avery Robshaw poked one over the center fielders head to score Marina Keene to even things at 1-1.

Bangor, Hampden Academy fall in Class A state title games

AUGUSTA/AUBURN -- Both Bangor baseball and Hampden Academy softball fell in their Class A state title games on Saturday. Bangor fell in an 11-inning thriller to Gorham by a score of 3-2. Hampden Academy fell to now back-to-back champ in undefeated Cheverus by a score of 3-2. Highlights from both games attached to article.

Monmouth Academy rallies to beat Washington Academy in Class C Baseball state title game

BANGOR -- Monmouth Academy beat Washington Academy for the second-straight year to win their second-straight Class C state title, this time in comeback fashion by a score of 5-4. The Raiders of Washington Academy blitzed Monmouth, scoring all four of their runs in the first inning. After that, Monmouth Academy and pitcher Levi Laverdiere settled in. They scored one run in the third, then two runs in the fourth to make it 4-3. Then with their backs against the wall in the 7th, they came alive.
