Jackie Alpers’s Biography

Jackie Alpers is a professional food photographer, food writer and recipe developer. She is a noted expert on Tucson, Arizona's Sonoran-style regional cuisine and the author of four cookbooks including the award-winning Taste of Tucson: Sonoran Style Recipes Inspired by the Rich Culture of Southern Arizona.

Jackie Alpers was named The #1 Famous Food Photographer in 2024 by Shotkit and Art in Context. She cooks, styles and photographs food and recipes in her natural-light studio, and documents food, chefs and restaurants on location.

Jackie Alpers was awarded the Taste Awards medallion for food and beverage photography twice, a gold Muse Photography Award in the food photography category, and multiple awards from American Photography, The Lucie Foundation's International Photography Awards, The London Photography Awards, The Color Awards and The American Advertising Federation.

She is especially interested in covering regional culinary influences while exploring food history and culture, and the emotional, psychological and spiritual relationship that people have with food and drink. Food lends itself to vast symbolism and interpretation and she loves the rituals surrounding it.
