Based on the Fukuoka and Kyoto international consensus guidelines, the current clinical management of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) largely depends on imaging features. While these criteria are highly sensitive in detecting high-risk IPMN, they lack specificity, resulting in surgical overtreatment. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based medical image analysis has the potential to augment the clinical management of IPMNs by improving diagnostic accuracy.

1 Introduction Small bowel adenocarcinoma (SBA) is rare and accounts for around 1 in 3 small bowel malignancies. SBA has a poor prognosis with a median overall survival (OS) of 12.8 months for duodenal tumors and 40.4 months for jejunal tumors [1-3]. In 2024, an estimated 12,440 patients will be diagnosed with SBA in the United States and over 2000 will die from the disease [4].
