The intensifying effects of climate change necessitate rapid decarbonization of the electrical grid. (1,2) This presents multiple challenges, one of which is the intermittency of renewable energy resources such as wind and solar power. (3) A promising option for addressing the mismatch between supply and demand for renewable energy is the widespread incorporation of grid-scale electrochemical energy storage infrastructure.
