‘Digger’ – Masterpiece or Misstep for Tom Cruise?
A film that makes us question whether or not we truly know the story. Digger is the latest film from acclaimed director Alejandro González Iñárritu. Tom Cruise stars as Digger Rockwell, a billionaire oil tycoon whose eccentricity outweighs his wealth. Early on, an employee alerts Rockwell that a deep crack has fractured a glacier, sending a massive ice wedge drifting toward Europe and threatening global disaster. Digger seeks to be humanity’s savior and rescue the world from its bitter demise.
‘Disclosure Day’ Takes Over NYC for Star-Studded Premiere
While New York Knicks fans flooded the Madison Square Garden area to watch Game 3 of the NBA Finals, a distinctly different crowd assembled in the city. Instead of catching the game, however, they were there to witness world-renowned director Steven Spielberg’s latest film, Disclosure Day. To mark the event, Universal Studios and Amblin Entertainment took over Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater for the star-studded U.S. premiere of Disclosure Day.

Kansas businesses and workers don't need DC intervention | Opinion
A proposed bill, the Faster Labor Contracts Act, would change the process for negotiating initial union contracts. The legislation would require binding arbitration if a contract is not reached within a set timeframe. Critics argue this gives a third-party arbitrator power to set wages and benefits without approval from the business or workers. As a small business owner in Topeka, I know the importance of treating my employees well and fairly.
Film Review: 'Mission: Impossible
What’s done is done when they say it’s done…, for now. Ethan Hunt and his team are back to finish what they started in their previous adventure. A piece of artificial intelligence, called “The Entity,” has gone rogue and infiltrated global intelligence, causing significant chaos amongst the world population. The team’s mission is to pick up from where they left off and capture the entity before it gets into the wrong hands and causes the end of humanity as we know it.

Film Review: 'The Amateur'
5 More or less does its job. Charles Heller is a cryptographer for the CIA, and happily married to his wife, Sarah. Life seems to be going well until Sarah is kidnapped and killed in a London terrorist attack. Infuriated that his superiors are not pursuing the case, Charlie takes matters into his own hands. Blackmailing his employers, he gets training as a field operative, and goes on a worldwide man-hunt to find and kill his wife assailants.
Addressing the Silent Threat of Cloud Misconfigurations
Attention to detail is crucial when maintaining cybersecurity within an organisation. Security controls must be consistent and robust and extend to every aspect of the system. However, it must be noted that adversaries only need to identify one or two vulnerabilities to breach an enterprise's defences, making it clear why they continue to find ways to infiltrate systems.
The hidden cost of poor HR practices for businesses
In today’s fast-paced and competitive business landscape, a company’s greatest asset is its people regardless of your size or industry. However, many companies pay lip service to its people and overlook the importance of effective HR practices. Poor HR management does not just impact on employee morale, it can wear down your business from the inside out, costing money, productivity, and your reputation.
Common Cloud Misconfigurations and Solutions
Prominent examples of misconfigurations from top cloud providers, and guidance to rectify them. Details matter when it comes to keeping an organisation cyber-secure: security controls need to be consistent and robust down to the smallest detail. In contrast, exploitation of an enterprise’s defences only takes one or two weaknesses to gain a foothold. It’s no wonder adversaries keep finding ways in.

How to prove a will is forged
A will cannot be valid if it is a forgery. Forgery means falsely making or altering a written document or simulating the signing of another person’s name on a document. B P Collins’ contentious probate team explains, in the context of a will, this means that either the provisions of the will have been altered without the testator’s (the person making the will) knowledge or the will has been signed by someone other than the testator and without the testator’s knowledge.
Employees’ rights during collective consultation and redundancy
Redundancy can be a difficult experience for employees, bringing uncertainty and potential financial worries. However, employment law in England and Wales provides clear rights and protections to ensure fair treatment during the consultation and redundancy process. B P Collins’ employment team explores your rights as an employee in this situation. What is mass redundancy? Mass redundancy occurs when 20 or more employees are dismissed within a 90-day period at a single establishment.
Inheritance Act claims
It is a common myth that you can distribute your assets as you wish, so long as you have written a will. Wills can be challenged in court and they can be declared invalid for various reasons. Whilst you may wish to exclude some beneficiaries, such as a spouse or children and leave everything to a cause close to your heart, B P Collins’ contentious probate team advises that family members and dependents may have the legal right to contest your last wishes.
Will validity disputes
Disputes over the validity of a will might arise for a number of reasons, including concerns regarding the testator’s (the person who made the will) mental capacity, if they knew of and approved the contents of their will, whether the will was validly signed and executed, if the testator may have been unduly influenced by another person to prepare their will in a particular way, or whether the will was signed by the testator at all (or is a forgery).
Can an executor delay probate?
When administering an estate, the obligations of an administrator or executor (collectively referred to as the Personal Representatives or “PRs”) must administer the estate with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable timeframe, and in accordance with the terms of the will or the intestacy rules, according to B P Collins’ contentious probate team. Whilst ‘executors’ are referred to below, the rules apply equally to administrators where there is no will.
B P Collins advises Ceva Animal Health as it signs an agreement with Touchlight to use Touchlight’s dbDNA technology in animal health
Ceva and Touchlight entered into an agreement and a long-term collaboration for the development and manufacture of new dbDNA vaccines and therapeutics across a broad range of animal health indications.
Film Review "Los Frikis"
14 Heartbreaking, yet undeniably beautiful. In 1961, Fidel Castro excelled the growth of Communism in Cuba by banning all of Rock n’ Roll music, seeing it as bad American influence. Of course, with any sort of prohibition, there are those who acted underground. This continued into the 190s, following the collapse of the Soviet Union, and when rock groups like Nirvana started to hit the airwaves.
Film Review: 'Gladiator II'
We are entertained, even if only slightly! In the year 2000, Ridley Scott’s Gladiator shook the world of entertainment. Not only did it skyrocket the careers of all involved and take home the award for Best Picture, but it also revitalized the sword-and-sandal genre. These accomplishments are a tough act to follow regarding sequels but films The Godfather Part II and Top Gun: Maverick show that it is possible.

Film Review: 'Transformers One'
More than meets the eye, and more than the trailer alludes to. It is time for yet another Transformers film, and this time, it returns to its roots of animation. It is the first animated Transformers film to have a theatrical release following the 1986 feature. Directed by Josh Cooly, this entry explores the early relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron before becoming enemies.
Film Review: 'Alien: Romulus'
A terrifying return to form for the franchise. The Alien franchise is one of those franchises that has a rocky history. The first two films, Alien and Aliens are bonafede science-fiction classics that still hold up today. Almost everything entry after those two failed to leave a good lasting impression on audiences, to say the least. Not even joining forces with Predator (twice) could bring goodwill to the franchise again.
Film Review: 'Deadpool and Wolverine'
You will certainly get your money’s worth! There is no denying anymore that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in deep trouble. Excluding Spider-Man: No Way Home, their output has been poor, and audiences are gradually turning away. Given the series’ grand impact on the entertainment industry, this is not a small problem. Now that Disney owns 20th Century Fox, it also owns the rights to the X-Men, including their delightful black-sheep character, Deadpool.
Film Review: 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes'
Another worthy entry into the series! Seven years after War, the franchise continues with Kingdom or the Planet of the Apes. It has been 300 years since the death of Caesar, the leader who led fellow apes to freedom. Apes are now the dominant species, with humans, consistently regressing to primitive state, hiding out. One night, a rogue army of apes, led by Proximus Caesar, raids a clan of a young chimpanzee named Noa.
'Tarot' - The Knockturnal
No number of cards drawn can suggest a bright future for this film. Tuesday evening, the IPIC theater hosted a special screening of the film Tarot, hosted by DJ Suss One. In the film, a group friends vacationing in the Poconos stumble upon a deck of tarot cards. One friend, obsessed with tarot, decides to give each person a reading from the deck. Unknown to everyone, the readings are premonitions of each of the respective deaths.
'Challengers' - The Knockturnal
Get ready for the “battle of the exes!” The trailers, and even the official plot summary for Challengers is weirdly vague compared to what happens in the film. Even the official descriptions of the plot leave many desired details to be filled. Guadagnino’s approach to the material manages to avoid the traps that many films regarding a love triangle fall into, the main one being the annoyance.
Film Review: 'Dune: Part Two'
2 Highly organized research is guaranteed to produce something cool! In 2021, after years of development and delays, Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune took the world by storm. It was regarded as a visual masterpiece, as well as a faithful adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel. One smart decision on Villeneuve’s part was splitting the story into two films, as the novel itself is a dense piece of literature.

'Argylle' - The Knockturnal
1 Quite a lot to fit in one chapter. Ellie Conway is an author who lives a rather humble and reclusive existence with her cat. As she is attempting to finish the latest book in her most popular espionage series, Argylle, she gets advice from her mother over the phone that the final chapter needs to have a more definitive ending. As Ellie takes the train to visit her mother, she meets Alfie, who claims to be a fan of her writing.
Film Review: 'Night Swim'
1 As deep as the shallow end. Well, it is January again. It is time for the holiday decorations to be put away, to get started on New Year’s resolutions, and to see what horror films are out right now. Yes, January horror films tend to be hit and miss, but lately, there have been more hits, in that, audiences seem to be enjoying them more. Now along comes Night Swim, written and directed by Bryce McGuire, based on his 2014 short of the same name.
In today’s global threat landscape, it pays to go back to basics
The global threat landscape has continued to evolve over the last few years, though truth be told, cybercriminals have not steered far from their age-old techniques. Why would they, when they’re still swimming in money every year? What has changed, however, is that newer technologies, more resources and a scattered perimeter have given threat actors the ability to execute their attacks even more effectively and at even higher frequencies.
Playlist: Music to gently ease you into fall
SHARE Ease into fall with a playlist of good vibes, gentle guitars and jazz excursions. Beginning with the unofficial indie rock anthem of autumn from Yo La Tengo, this playlist includes a track from The Feelies, a new one from Rotterdam’s Lewsberg, a bit of the Halloween spirit from The Cramps, and a timeless message of thanks from Sly & The Family Stone. We’ve also got two from the Windham Hill universe: one from label founder William Ackerman and another from his cousin Alex de Grassi.
The Waverly Criteria - What Does the Future Hold?
In the past six months, the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art and Objects of Cultural Interest (the "Committee") has been rather busy. In March it was widely reported that "Portrait of Omai" by Sir Josha Reynolds (the "Painting") was on the verge of leaving the UK after an agreement had been reached with a non-UK buyer, and now a similar issue has arisen regarding a chandelier commissioned by Peter Watson in the 1940s and sculpted by Alberto Giacometti (the "Chandelier").
Playlist: Summer Music
With summer in full swing, this decades-spanning playlist celebrates all things sun, sand and, in the immortal words of Stephen Malkmus by way of Vanilla Ice, “Ice, baby.” Featuring XTC’s “Summer’s Cauldron” and “Grass” (both from their 1986 album “Skylarking”), a bit of peak ‘70s ECM jazz from guitarist Ralph Towner, a track from Melody’s Echo Chamber’s 2012 debut (produced by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala), a lovely solo acoustic work from Yasmin Williams, and a just-exactly perfect rendition...
You should bank[sy] that!
It was recently reported that the building on which one of Banksy’s latest murals was painted had been demolished, destroying the mural in the process. Titled ‘Morning is Broken’, the mural, which depicted the silhouette of a young boy and his cat pulling open “curtains” made of corrugated iron, was reportedly destroyed on the same day Banksy confirmed the work as his. But surely tragedies such as this are avoidable? In law, “land” includes buildings and fixtures.
Film Review: "John Wick: Chapter 4"
Easily the best of the ‘John Wick’ sequels! Keanu Reeves is once again back as the titular John Wick, the professional hitman that no person ever wants to mess with. Picking up after the events of Chapter 3, John Wick has fully healed from his gunshot wound, delivered by Winston Scott, as well as his fall from the Continental Hotel. He plans to infiltrate and get his revenge on The High Table, the crime organization that set him up to be assassinated.
HBO's 'The Last of Us' invites you out of the darkness and into the light!
Prepare for what could possibly be the best video game adaptation of all time! The world of entertainment has entered a new phase where video game adaptations are starting to show potential. The Sonic the Hedgehog film series have arguably kickstarted this change in perception, but they are comedy films aimed primarily at families. By contrast, adult-oriented dramatic video game adaptations are hard to come by, well-regarded ones especially.
Film Review: 'Avatar: The Way of Water"
Technically worth the wait. Right off the back, it is almost unreal that the long-delayed sequel to James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster hit Avatar is finally here. Since being announced right after Avatar was released, it seemed to take forever to get this film made to the point where it almost became a joke, especially with Cameron’s promise of another three sickles afterwards.

Fight against drugs
Red Ribbon Week wrapped up last week, but hopefully it helped bring awareness to the dangers of drugs and alcohol. In 1985, DEA agent Enrique Camarena was murdered by a drug trafficking crime syndicate. This occurrence brought awareness to the dangers of drugs and became known as Red Ribbon Week, an annual drug awareness campaign. The week can serve as a means of informing younger audiences about drugs and their effects on the body.
Film Review: 'Black Adam'
Sha-mazingly average. In the ancient city of Kahndaq resides Teth-Adam is bestowed with the power of Shazam to lead his people to revolt against the rule of King Ahn-Kot. After spending nearly five thousand years entombed, Adam is unleashed int modern-day Kahndaq by an archaeologist, Adrianna Tomaz, who is on the hunt for the Crown of Sabbac, which is said to give its bearer great power.
Emails reveal tension over Idaho commissioner's non-elected advisor Original
CALDWELL - In 2017, Nampa resident Leslie Van Beek filed to run for Canyon County commissioner, and was seeking a campaign treasurer. She soon connected with ElJay Waite, the former financial director for the city of Caldwell. "He has served my campaign well," Van Beek said in a written statement to the Idaho Press."The only stipulation he had was that I appoint God as my campaign manager. It has been a great working partnership ever since." Erin Banks Rusby is a reporter with the Idaho Press.
'Nope' - The Knockturnal
Perhaps. There is no doubt that Jordan Peele is one of the most ambitious and compelling filmmakers of this generation. His first film Get Out took the world by storm with its humor-laced horror and sprinkles of social commentary, and is highly regarded to this day.
Film Review: 'Thor: Love and Thunder'
Love and Thunder can go a long way, but not long enough. With the MCU currently going at full speed with theatrical releases and Disney+, it is finally time to check up on Thor and his adventures. Since the events of Endgame, Thor has been living the life of a free-spirted God in New Asgaard, occasionally battling enemy forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Idaho adventures from one transplant to another
The Treasure Valley is a mecca for outdoor activity. With the foothills, Owyhees, Bogus Basin, Lucky Peak and hundreds of miles of sublime, wide-open space just over that ridge, it’s no wonder the rest of the country is slowly waking up to the quiet majesty of the Idaho wilderness. I grew up in South Florida where sunny tropical beaches, crashing ocean waves and gator-infested swamps are just par for the course.
Unlock Your Power at the Stranger Things Experience
Enter the rift and into the upside down, but watch out for Demogorgons! Well, the summer season is almost here, the country is slowly recovering from COVID 19, and Netflix is on the cusp of releasing the latest season of Stranger Things. It feels so long ago when Stranger Things 3 dropped onto Netflix during the summer of 2019, and COVID made time move much slower.
'Ambulance' - The Knockturnal
You will need one after seeing this movie. Michael Bay has not exactly had the best track record when it comes to his directorial efforts. While his films have proven to be popular with audiences in the past, he is not exactly a darling when it comes to his critics. At his best, he makes something entertaining like the first Transformers film or an honest true story effort like 13 Hours.
BSU Spring FOOTBALL14.JPG
If judging a book by its cover is frowned upon, judging a football team by its spring game should be a sin — especially when that spring game is played amidst 20 mph gusts as a fraction of that team watched in sweats.
