The hottest team in baseball this April was the Oakland Athletics. The last strong Oakland team was in 2002, the “Moneyball” A’s, in a season that changed baseball forever. The Oakland offense has a similar balance, especially in the infield, to that legendary 2002 team. It will be up to the pitching staff, however, to keep pace throughout this winning streak and the rest of the season as the A’s aim to match the “Moneyball” team.

Georgetown University women’s basketball lost a grueling game to the Creighton Bluejays at home Feb. 15, as two free throws with just under four seconds to play gave Creighton a 42-41 victory. Despite the press from Georgetown (1-11, 1-11 Big East), Creighton (6-8, 5-5 Big East) relied on three-pointers to sweep the season series 2-0.

Portland Trail Blazers’ CJ McCollum started this season on a tear, as he and teammate Damian Lillard were the best backcourt duo in the NBA this season. McCollum was scoring nearly 27 points per game on efficient 47.3% shooting, including 44.1% from three. When he was injured during Portland’s defeat of the Atlanta Hawks on Jan. 16, it seemed the team would suffer in his absence, leaving too much pressure on Lillard, especially since starting center Jusuf Nurkić was also out due to injury.
