In 1895 the Michelin brothers made an early bet on AI. And by AI, I mean of course the Automobile Industry. They expanded their business that sold rubber parts, Michelin SCA, into the new and growing market for car tires. It was a classic horizontal supply chain play. Because every car needed tires, regardless of who had manufactured it or what it was being used for, their business was positioned to win as long as the industry as a whole was growing. By 1926, that bet was starting to pay off.
