EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 76-year-old El Paso man. El Paso police announced that they arrested 21-year-old Abraham Sosa Castro, of Fabens, on Tuesday, July 7, charging him with collision involving death. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. His bond was set at $500,000 by Judge Joseph. The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. on June 18 along Loop 375 South near Pelicano Drive.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A fire at a landfill in Ciudad Juarez sent thick black smoke drifting across the U.S.-Mexico border early Tuesday morning. Officials said the fire broke out around 4 a.m. at the city’s landfill, the Relleno Sanitario. Burning trash produced large plumes of black smoke that were visible from El Paso throughout the morning on July 7. Video from the scene showed flames spreading across portions of the landfill overnight as emergency crews worked to contain the blaze.
