However, as the distance between two substituents increases, the Pauli repulsion that underpins steric hindrance decays more rapidly than London dispersion (1) (LD)─an attractive force that is usually neglected when considering steric effects.

We prepared four tetrahedral M4LR4 cages ( Figure 1 a), assembled from hexaalkylated truxene-based trianilines AMe or AEt , 2-formylpyridine, and either Fe(NTf 2 ) 2 or Zn(NTf 2 ) 2 . Each ligand projects three R groups into the cavity, yielding 12 proximal R groups. Stereochemistry of M4LMe4 and M4LEt4 Although both Fe4LEt4 and Fe4LMe4 adopted configurations with chiral tetrahedral ( T ) point symmetry, their structures differ notably ( Figure 1 c).

I’ve had the usual bulky overhead projectors over the years, but their size has always annoyed me, particularly when I travelled a lot around Australia, signwriting years ago. They are a great tool for both production and, what many don’t realize, they can be a great learning tool in the early stages of traditional signwriting.
