Have you ever used a typewriter?

I'm part of the generation that learned to type on an electric typewriter and was downloading albums from Napster by graduation.

How is social media changing news?

Mostly for the worse, but it does reward compelling images and efficiently delivering a message.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Paul Kemp, I've read The Rum Diary at least a dozen times.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Tell an impactful story supported by facts.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

The headlines we are seeing today are too outrageous to chose just one.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

My preference is to be pitched.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Google Docs, WordPress, SiteGround, AIOSEO, a record player, and archival research tools like Newspapers.com.

Why did you become a journalist?

I'm naturally curious and like to answer questions that nobody asked.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

There is a cohesive story on the cosmic culture club that comes together an album at a time, I'm proud of that collection.

What's your favorite drink?

The cosmic culture club has a collection of my favorite drinks, but my answer is a Manhattan. It was my grandfather's drink of choice as wel.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Running the streets & trails of Austin, in a music venue, in front of the record player, or at Bar Lamar.
