‘Ring of Fire’ will bring multiple rounds of storms to Northeast Ohio

The pattern develops when clusters of storms form around the outer edge of a large area of high pressure, sometimes referred to as a heat dome.

(WJW) — The weather looks great for the annual Fox 8 Fox Trot at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on Sunday! We hope to see you there! Sunday will be mostly sunny and toasty, with highs in the mid to upper 80s. The weather pattern will turn more active Sunday night, and remain active through the middle of the workweek. During this time, Northeast Ohio be on the edge of an upper-level, or heat dome, where multiple clusters of downpours and storms will develop.

(WJW) — The start of the workweek continues to trend drier – the chance of rain has been taken out of Monday’s forecast. Monday will start out mostly cloudy, then become mostly sunny in the afternoon. Highs on Monday will be in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Everyone will notice a drop in the humidity on Monday, especially in the afternoon! Monday and Tuesday look like the will be the driest days this week, but not one day will be a washout.

FORECAST: Humidity returns to start the week
(WJW) — The start of the workweek will be very warm, if not hot, and humid. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s on Monday. The high humidity levels will put feels like temperatures in the lower 90s. The heat and humidity on Monday is nothing we cannot handle for this time of year. There is a chance clouds and rain could keep temperatures down in some spots. Scattered downpours and storms could redevelop Monday afternoon, mainly for places along and east of I-77.

(WJW) — The start of the workweek will be a little warmer than the end of the weekend. Temperatures will climb into the lower to mid 80s on Monday. The humidity levels looks to remain low and comfortable on Monday. The chance of rain will return Monday night into Tuesday morning as a warm front lifts north across the area. The chance of rain and threat of storms will continue to go up on Tuesday as a cold front moves swings through the area.
Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Cuyahoga, Erie, Lorain, Summit counties
(WJW) — The National Weather Service has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for Ashtabula, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Erie, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Summit and Trumbull counties until 6 p.m. at the latest on Saturday, July 18. A line of severe thunderstorms was spotted near western Vermilion at about 4:23 p.m., moving east at 40 mph. Wind gusts could reach 60 mph, causing damage to trees and power lines. Hail up to three-quarters of an inch could also appear.
FORECAST: Temps climb back into the 90’s this week
(WJW) — The start of the workweek will be mostly sunny and toasty. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s on Monday. The upcoming workweek looks hot. An upper-level ridge will expand across the central United States this week. This will put Northeast Ohio on the eastern edge of the heat dome. Highs will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s all week long. Cleveland is forecast to hit 90 degrees or top 90 degrees on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

(WJW) — Sunday will be a pleasant summer day! It is not going to be too hot and there will be a slight drop in the humidity. Highs on Sunday will be in the lower to mid 80s. Plus, there will be no shortage of sunshine. The heat dome will expand across the central United States early next week. Ohio will be on the edge of the heat dome by the middle of next week. Cleveland is forecast to hit 90 degrees on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with heat indices closer to 100 degrees.

(WJW) — Keep the rain gear handy on Monday! Once again, scattered to numerous rain showers, downpours, and storms will develop on Monday. A stray rain shower cannot be ruled out at any point throughout the day, but the coverage will peak in the afternoon. The strongest storms that develop could produce gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. High temperatures on Monday will be on either side of 80 degrees. This week will not be nearly as hot as last week.

(WJW) — An upper-level ridge will expand over Northeast Ohio and bring the hottest stretch of weather so far this year this week! Many refer to an upper-level ridge as the heat dome because a bubble of hot and humid air builds underneath it. The first heat wave of the year is forecasted this week. Highs will be near 90 degrees on Monday and well into the 90s on Tuesday through Thursday. It’s not only going to be hot, but humid too.

Northern lights could dazzle in Ohio as sun ejections expected to spark storms
(NEXSTAR) – It’s been months since the world was hit by the strongest solar radiation storm in decades, bringing the northern lights to much of the U.S. Another storm in space – albeit shaping up to be weaker – is now en route to collide with Earth. For some, including in northern Ohio, that could mean another night of northern lights. Since Tuesday, three coronal mass ejections (CMEs) have been hurled out by the sun, according to NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center.
CLEVELAND (WJW) – The start of June has been just as nice as the end of the May! Here’s a look at Monday’s high temperatures: The average high in Cleveland on June 1st is 76 degrees. The weather still looks great to get outside Monday evening. Temperatures will drop through the 60s this evening. The wind will start to lighten up after sunset. Monday night will be mostly clear and seasonable. Overnight lows will be on either side of 50 degrees.
Cool evening, then warming into the 70s on Sunday!
(WJW) — It has been a SUN-tastic start to the weekend! Despite all the sunshine, Saturday has been cooler, with many places not even getting out of the 60s! Saturday has also been a breezy day too. Wind gusts have topped 30 mph at times. Temperatures will drop back into the upper 50s shortly after sunset Saturday evening. The wind will also start to lighten up this evening as well. No major weather problems are expected for anyone who has outdoor plans.
Weekend forecast: Plenty of sunshine; small craft advisory issued for Lake Erie
CLEVELAND (WJW) — The National Weather Service has issued a BEACH HAZARD STATEMENT for Northern Ohio’s lakefront counties, including Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Erie, Lake, Lorain and Ottawa. It goes into effect late Friday, May 29, and continues through Saturday evening, May 30. The weather service advises swimmers to stay out of the water due to high risk of rip currents which can carry swimmers away from the shore.

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Thursday has been a SUN-sational day! Temperatures are topping out in the mid to upper 60s along the lake and in the 70s away from the lake. The weather still looks great to get outside this evening. Temperatures will drop through the 60s Thursday evening. Thursday night will be clear and quiet. A few spots of fog will develop overnight into Friday morning. Lows will be in the mid to upper 40s. Many will need a light jacket or sweatshirt first thing Friday morning.

The widespread rain will start to scatter out first thing Saturday morning. Temperatures will not tumble too far Friday night.

(WJW) — Monday will be the warmest day this week! It will be the only day in the 8 Day Forecast with high temperatures at or above 70 degrees. Monday will be breezy, with a southwest wind at 10 to 20 mph. Monday will be mostly dry, but not completely rain-free. Scattered rain showers and thundershowers will develop after 5 p.m. and continue through the rest of Monday evening. The wettest day this week will be Tuesday.

Many are waking up to temperatures in the 20s, with wind chills 5 to 10 degrees colder. Make sure to bundle up before you head out the door this morning. Also, do not be completely surprised if you see a few snowflakes. A few snow flurries could drop south across the area early Saturday morning.
Potential severe storms coming with more rain
The chance of rain will start to ramp up Sunday evening. Rain with embedded downpours and storms will move from west to east across the area between 6PM and midnight. There is still the potential for a stronger storm Sunday evening, mainly for places along and south of I-76. If a strong storm develops, it could produce gusty winds and hail. The storm threat will likely wind down after 8PM.

Temperatures Saturday afternoon range from the upper 40s along the lake to near 60 degrees for places south of Highway 30. Temperatures will continue to warm Saturday evening through Saturday night. Despite increasing clouds, Saturday evening and Saturday night will be quiet and dry. The chance of rain and the threat of storms will not return until Sunday.

(WJW) — A WIND ADVISORY will remain in effect for the entire area until 8 p.m. on Monday. During this time, the wind will be sustained at 20 to 30 mph. The wind will be out of the south for the rest of Sunday and Sunday night. The wind will become more westerly on Monday. Wind gusts could also top 50 mph at times Sunday night through Monday. Wind gusts this strong could do tree damage and cause power outages. A strong cold front will blast through Northeast Ohio Sunday night into early Monday morning.

Keep in mind, the normal high for this time of year is 47 degrees, so highs were 20-30 degrees above normal. Here’s a look at Sunday’s highs: A WIND ADVISORY will remain in effect for the entire area until 8PM on Monday. During this time, the wind will be sustained at 20 to 30 mph. The wind will be out of the south for the rest of Sunday and Sunday night.

It will be in effect from 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, until 8 a.m. on Monday, March 16. Wind gusts up to 50 mph could blow around unsecured objects or tree limbs or cause power outages, according to the weather service. Travel may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
