Endometriosis, a chronic inflammatory disease, can present with a variety of symptoms, including chronic pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, painful ovulation, dyspareunia, dysuria and dyschezia [1,2]. Women with endometriosis also experience menorrhagia, fatigue and infertility [2]. Moreover, endometriosis is associated with other co-morbid pain and psychiatric conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, interstitial cystitis, fibromyalgia, anxiety and depression [3–5].
