Introduction Deformable image registration (DIR) is the process of non-rigidly aligning one image to another, into a common spatial coordinate frame, in order to account for anatomical differences between the two images.1 Recently, the use of DIR has become more common in radiotherapy, in particular for adaptive radiotherapy,2,3 where treatment is adapted to account for anatomical changes in between treatment fractions.
