This paper documents the proceedings of the roundtable discussion "Islamic Finance in the BARMM: Opportunities, Challenges and Paths Forward," which evaluates the potential of Shari’ah-compliant financial systems to drive economic inclusion in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

This monograph is a product of action research on Islamic finance involving academics, policymakers, financing institutions, civil society, and Sharia scholars. It contains a literature review and the results of discussions with key stakeholders resulting in a comprehensive scoping of the history, policies, and initiatives on Islamic finance.

Smallholder farmers in the Philippines face compounding climate risks, including rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, and intensifying tropical cyclones. These challenges exacerbate poverty and food insecurity, necessitating innovative responses. However, the adoption of climate-resilient agricultural technologies remains low due to high transition costs, localized weather patterns, aging farmers, and concerns over potential short-term losses.
