SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - SCAD celebrated one of the largest commencement ceremonies in university history Friday at the Savannah Convention Center. President and founder Paula Wallace conferred degrees on more than 4,600 graduates, a record-breaking class for SCAD. The day’s events began with a 9 a.m. presidential conferment of degrees, followed by multiple presentation ceremonies throughout the day.

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (WTOC) - A new veterans memorial park opened in Hardeeville this Memorial Day, and city leaders say the timing was no accident. The new park is on Martin Street next to the Hardeeville Library. It honors fallen service members, veterans and first responders. The park features flags representing each branch of the military, along with a wall dedicated to first responders.

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - Lady’s Island Middle School broke ground Friday on their new middle school facility. After over 40 years, the old middle school will be replaced with a new 84,000 square foot, state of the art facility. The building of the new school stems from security and safety designs that don’t meet today’s standards. The new facility will be able to hold up to 500 students, with room to expand for up to 800 students.
