Cause of Mitchell Robinson’s broken pinky remains a mystery as clock ticks on NBA Finals readiness
There is plenty of mystery regarding Mitchell Robinson’s broken right pinky. Coach Mike Brown said Friday that Robinson did not suffer the injury in a game or in Thursday’s practice. Thursday was the Knicks’ first practice since Game 4 of the conference finals. When asked when or how it happened, the Knicks said they were not getting into specifics. They also did not say when Robinson had surgery on the pinky. Mitchell Robinson hopes to be ready for Game 1.

Advertisement She started just 1-for-7 from the field. She committed silly fouls. She wasn’t the imposing presence on defense she usually is. But it was just early rust.
James Nnaji To Join Knicks For Summer League
Center James Nnaji is leaving Barcelona in hopes of joining the New York Knicks for the upcoming season. Nnaji intends to join the Knicks for Summer League. He hopes that will land him a regular season roster spot for next season. Nnaji was originally drafted by the Detroit Pistons with the 31st pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. His rights were traded to the Boston Celtics and then Charlotte Hornets as part of a pair of draft night swaps.
Miles McBride provides Knicks another jolt in Game 6 - on both ends
At 6-foot-1, Miles McBride is not exactly known as a rim protector. But with just over five minutes left in the second quarter, there was McBride chasing down Derrick White on a fast break and emphatically blocking his shot off the backboard. Advertisement Josh Hart corralled the rebound, raced down the other end of the floor and got an and-1. It sent the raucous Madison Square Garden crowd into a tizzy.
Mitchell Robinson’s fingerprints were all over Knicks’ big Game 4 win: ‘He’s special’
This time, the cheers at Madison Square Garden for Mitchell Robinson were not sarcastic. They were genuine. His fingerprints were all over the Knicks’ 121-113 Game 4 win over the Celtics on Monday night. The Celtics did not foul Robinson to send him to the line and take advantage of his poor free-throw shooting like they had in the first three games of the series. Advertisement Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla credited Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau for how he used Robinson to negate that strategy.
How the Knicks can spark stagnant offense
Both head coaches came to the same conclusion. Tom Thibodeau and Joe Mazzulla both pointed to the same area as the reason behind the Knicks’ offensive struggles, particularly in Game 3. “I think for anybody, live-ball turnovers that put you into the open floor, get you easy baskets,” Thibodeau said Sunday. “So that’s a big part of the game, and that’s the fight. I think it’s the challenge for each team to try to create as many as you can, because you know what it does for your offense.
Josh Hart’s elevated 3-point game gives Knicks fresh offensive look
Josh Hart’s energy and ability to spark his Knicks teammates is usually a given. They can rely on that night in and night out. But one part of his game has elevated and been a pleasant surprise for the Knicks. Through two games of this Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Celtics, Hart is shooting 42.1 percent (8-for-19) from 3-point range. Advertisement For the postseason, he is shooting 44.0 percent (11-for-25) from deep.
Jalen Brunson turned into ‘Captain Clutch’ again when Knicks needed it most
BOSTON — Tom Thibodeau described it best. Not much else really needed to be said. “That’s Jalen,” Thibodeau said. “It doesn’t matter what’s going on in the game, he’s going to be at his best when his best is needed.” Advertisement Jalen Brunson had just eight points on rough 3-for-13 shooting from the field after three quarters. He looked set for by far his worst showing of the postseason. The Knicks were floundering with their captain far from his best.
Familiar problem crops up again for Jalen Brunson-less Knicks in ugly loss to Clippers
The angst had dissipated somewhat in recent days. But it came roaring back as Madison Square Garden turned into Madison Square Harden on Wednesday night. After two games breezing past lowly opposition in the Wizards and shorthanded Mavericks, the Knicks stepped back up in weight class Wednesday night. And they failed yet another test against teams in playoff contention, falling 126-113 to the Clippers.
Illegal screening call sparks controversy in Iowa Hawkeyes vs Connecticut Huskies game, Caitlin Clark
It’s hardly a big game these days without an extremely controversial officiating decision. UConn forced back-to-back turnovers and had the ball, trailing 70-69, with 10 seconds left after calling timeout. But Aaliyah Edwards was subsequently called for an illegal screen, and the whistle appeared to be extremely marginal. Gabbie Marshall, who was screened by Edwards, certainly seemed to sell the call, as Edwards hardly moved after planting and establishing herself for the screen.

How The Principles of Experimentation Can Support Postsecondary Decision-Making
By: Jared Schwartz “The College Lab is the single most valuable project I’ve ever completed.” As a high school AP Chemistry teacher, it’s a powerful statement to hear from a student. It might also seem like an odd project name for a science class. But I discovered years ago that all good chemistry lessons include student exploration and problem-solving–and that isn’t so different from the skills required to create a plan for life after high school.
Cowboys’ Brett Maher misses four extra points, makes NFL history
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters appeared to strike Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon in the chest during the first quarter of their AFC wild-card round matchup on Sunday night. With about 1:05 remaining in the first, Mixon ran the ball for a yard and was tackled by Peters and linebacker Patrick Queen. As Peters was on Mixon, the defensive back appeared to hit Mixon in the stomach and caused a small kerfuffle between both teams.
Column: Spring Break in Indy? UW offers mixed messages regarding off-campus travel

Column: Jim Leonhard has Wisconsin defense once again among nation's best - The Daily Cardinal
In No. 10 Wisconsin’s Week 1 win over Illinois, it happened on the Fighting Illini’s first drive in the fourth quarter — backup quarterback Isaiah Williams replaced starter Brandon Peters, who had completed just eight passes for 87 yards to that point. He promptly threw three incompletions and added an interception for good measure. In their dismantling over Michigan at the Big House last week, it came a little earlier for the Badgers’ defense, this time near the end of the third quarter.
Column: Wisconsin vs. Michigan will be decided by coaching battle between Chryst and Harbaugh - The Daily Cardinal
This game will be won as much on the sidelines and on the headset as it will be on the field. For the Badgers, this should not be foreign. Assuming Wisconsin’s game at Michigan on Saturday is played — it is currently on track to be — UW will likely be shorthanded. Head coach Paul Chryst, in an interview with the Big Ten Network on Wednesday, said that at least 10 players would be unavailable.
Column: Badger football's COVID-19 outbreak representative of campus community - The Daily Cardinal

Minnesota's loss opens up Big Ten West, middle-of-the-pack teams look to become bowl eligible at end of year - The Daily Cardinal
Minnesota’s undefeated season ended just as they crossed the biggest obstacle to playing at Lucas Oil Stadium in December for the Big Ten Championship. In perhaps the highest-stakes Big Ten matchup this season, Minnesota beat then-undefeated Penn State 31-26 in Week 11. With just Iowa and bottom-dwelling Northwestern left to play before the annual rivalry game against Wisconsin, the Gophers could have clinched the Big Ten West title before they faced the Badgers.
Column: Wisconsin must build its identity around its defense - The Daily Cardinal
It was 23 degrees in Madison at tip-off, with the wind-chill pushing that number well into the teens. It’s part of a nation-wide arctic blast, plummeting temperatures around the country. Somehow, Wisconsin’s (2-1) offense started even colder Wednesday night in its 83-63 win over the McNeese State Cowboys (1-3). In the first half, the Badgers shot just 3-13, good for a measly 23 percent, from behind the arc.

The No. 20 Wisconsin Badgers (3-1 Big Ten, 5-2 overall) will see plenty of throws as they travel to Chicago in a showdown with Big Ten West leader Northwestern (4-1, 4-3) at Ryan Field. The Wildcats boast one of the Big Ten’s top quarterbacks in Clayton Thorson. On Saturday night, Hornibrook and the Wisconsin Badgers (2-1 Big Ten, 4-2 Overall) didn’t do anything well, and certainly weren’t on, as they lost to the Michigan Wolverines (4-0, 6-1) 38-13.

The Cornhuskers’ trip to Camp Randall changed none of that as they fell to the Wisconsin Badgers (2-0 Big Ten, 4-1 overall) 41-24. The Badgers jumped up to an early 3-0 lead to open the game — the first time they’ve scored on their opening drive this season.
‘It was everybody:’ How UW finally found itself in crunch time at Kinnick - The Daily Cardinal
“If you’re dead weight, you can get off the ship,” senior fullback Alec Ingold said. “But we’re going to keep moving forward.” That was the message inside the Wisconsin locker room following their humbling 24-21 loss to BYU. The loss came as a shock to Badgers fans, who had playoff dreams swirling around Madison. Perhaps it was too much preseason hype, perhaps the Badgers were overrated, perhaps they had a bad day. One thing was for sure, a non-conference loss, at home, was not in their plans.
