He attracted two motivated challengers this year, both Democrats, and will now face Will Dreher, a former assistant U.S. attorney and partner at the law firm Keller Rohrback, in the general election.
Seattle leaders say ‘fair pricing’ policy will keep groceries affordable. Not everyone buys it
The City Council is considering a law that would make Seattle the first city in the country to ban what is known by critics as “surveillance pricing,” where prices are adjusted for individual shoppers based on their shopping habits or search history. But some say the Fair Pricing and Transparency ordinance would prevent shoppers from saving money at a time when grocery prices remain stubbornly high.

Why an empty pit in downtown Seattle remains undeveloped after 21 years
An entrance to Seattle City Hall is shown, Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, in downtown Seattle. The lot across the street, formerly the city's public safety building, has remained undeveloped since 2005. If the pit across the street from Seattle City Hall were a person, it would be old enough to drink. The building that last stood there, the public safety building, was demolished in 2005. Since then, the giant hole in the ground has become a part of the downtown landscape.

Sports superfans may seem to have been born bleeding their teams’ colors, but really, they’re created. It happens around formative events: a buzzer-beating come-from-behind win, a once-in-a-generation athlete or a championship season. This year probably saw a few Seattle uberfans get converted during the Seahawks’ dominating Superbowl performance. Tonight, some more sports fanatics may be formed.
