Rock Hill driver wins two events at Horsepower Park

A much needed summer storm passed through the area on Saturday afternoon. Once the rain stopped, tracks were dried and motors were fired up for another night of short track racing. Horsepower Park in Morganton hosted six different divisions of dirt track action. The main event was the 20 lap Thunder Bomber feature that paid the winner $1,000. Jacob Funderburke of Rock Hill, S.C., was victorous keeping challenges  from Freddie Frady, Joey Barker and others at bay.

(Editor's note: We are pleased to welcome Jason Freeman and his "Grassroots Racing Report" to the News-Topic.) Tri-County Speedway hosted the Doug’s Auto Glass 305, Saturday June 20, 2026. The action started with the Carolina Vintage Racers and their 20-lap feature. Duff Sams started on the pole in his No. 44 Ford and led the opening five laps. Marty Reid and his Mopar Duster led lap six before Sams retook the top spot.
