Brown holds slim lead over Magnarelli with Assembly race too close to call

A huge upset may be happening in a state Assembly race, where a long-term incumbent may lose to an upstart challenger. 14-term incumbent Bill Magnarelli and Maurice Brown went to bed early Wednesday with the outcome of their primary battle uncertain. Preliminary results give Brown a slim lead of a little over one percentage point – 82 votes out of more than 6,500 votes cast. Late-arriving absentee ballots will be counted next week.

Oswego landlord previously charged with sexual harassment arrested again

State Police Wednesday arrested an Oswego landlord with a history of sexual offenses against women who were attempting to rent property from him. Troopers arrested Doug Waterbury and charged him with attempted rape, attempted bribery and patronizing a person for prostitution. Police say they were notified last June of a sex offense that occurred in the town of Scriba. They say a woman reported that she was looking for new housing and was given Waterbury's number.

Police say Boonville church explosion was caused by a damaged propane line

State Police say a damaged propane line was the cause of an explosion at an Oneida County church Tuesday, that sent four firefighters and the church's pastor to area hospitals. According to police, heavy snow on the church's roof caused it to sag, which led to an outdoor propane line being damaged. The gas then filled the church. When someone went into the church Tuesday morning, they smelled gas and called 911.
