What was your first job as a journalist?

Working at the Fremantle Herald/Perth Voice when I was 19. I did everything at the paper except become editor!

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes! A very old 1937 Underwood Typewriter.

How is social media changing news?

Everything is happening faster, but the verification of news is being lost before the actual facts are reported.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Andy Borowitz at the New Yorker

What does it mean to be a journalist?

keeping an honest documentation of history, and sharing it with a population of people of all stripes.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

QantasLuxiuy - it backfired spectacularly.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Australian Cartoonist and Stand-up Comedian

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I use Desk.app and TextEdit.app with Twitter, Wordpress and Mail.app

Why did you become a journalist?

I love to follow the news, I like to be among what's happening now.

I worked for the Fremantle Hereald writing stories, sub-editing, laying out pages and doing the editorial cartoons!

Never take anything as gospel before getting the other side of the story.
