A recent collision involving a student riding a scooter and a vehicle on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus has raised questions about whether current safety measures are enough to protect students who use scooters and bicycles as transportation. The university needs to go beyond telling students and drivers to be more careful. UT Martin should consider adding dedicated pathways for scooters and bicycles.

If a machine can do the work, what exactly are students supposed to learn? The easy answer is to ban AI; the harder answer is to teach students how to use it. After speaking with students and faculty at the University of Tennessee at Martin, I think the harder answer is the correct one.

The institution traces its origins back to 1900, when the Hall-Moody Institute opened as a private Baptist school.
