What was your first job as a journalist?
My first paying job was with People's World writing about the civil trial in Charlottesville against the Unite the Right organizers.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I have, gotta say I'm not a fan of all the jamming keys.
How is social media changing news?
Social media is currently destroying the narrative that journalism needs to be done with the resources of a news agency behind you.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
I don't think I've seen a memorable story that used a hashtag since 2017
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Samsung Record app, Blue Yeti microphone if I can fit it in my bag, Samsung Galaxy S7 for writing, Samsung Galaxy S20+ for pics, etc.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter and Tiktok, both of which are the bane of my sanity.

Too many tbh
Why did you become a journalist?
To try to get stories out there that I otherwise think wouldn't be published.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Nope, I got started doing "journalism" work on YouTube that was basically just drama, and then doing my version of newscasting on Twitch.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Whatever I'm currently working on, but especially if it's research heavy.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Go out and write. The only thing holding you back from being a journalist is little book knowledge and clout that you can build from working.
When's the best time to pitch you?
About 5 hours after I wake up.
What's your favorite drink?
Dark and Stormy
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Sleeping, tbh.

The Atlantic, The New Yorker, People's World, and Cville Weekly.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That I have a consistent beat, lol
