From the earliest moments that Sparks of Tomorrow began to play on the many projector screens across the Anime Expo panel room, I felt certain that this would be one of, if not the, best anime this season. The project adapts Hiro Yuki’s novel 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku and was originally announced in 2018, with animation to be done by Kyoto Animation. Expectations were high for those aware of how long it’d been since the anime project had first been announced.

KAGURABACHI received the strongest response from an anime convention crowd that I’ve ever witnessed. At this year’s Anime Expo, KAGURABACHI featured an exclusive preview screening of 20 minutes of the anime. This comes as part of the first stop on KAGURABACHI‘s Anime World Tour ahead of the anime’s official broadcast in April 2027. I had a high bar going into this premiere, especially for a series that has received as much hype (meme-y or otherwise) as KAGURABACHI.

During this year’s Anime Expo, we had the opportunity to speak with members of the staff behind Persona 4 Revival, including Kazuhisa Wada (General Producer for the Persona Team) and Shigenori Soejima (Character Designer / Illustrator at ATLUS). Persona 4 Revival is the second remake of Persona 4, originally released in 2008 for the PlayStation. ATLUS would go on to release a first remake, Persona 4 Golden, in 2012.
