Curvature-induced vitrification and polymorphism in corannulene

Abstract Polymorphism in polyarenes significantly impacts their applications, yet remains underexplored in curved species like corannulene. To this end, we utilised fast scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction to explore its stability regimes. Unlike its flat counterpart perylene, corannulene exhibits a glass transition at Tg = 323 K when cooled from the melt at rates exceeding − 500 K s−1. Upon heating, three thermal events at ca. 380, 430, and 500 K reveal hitherto unknown polymorphs.

Lady Bison Shut Out by BEA

WINGATE — The Clearfield Lady Bison took their five game losing streak on the road Monday afternoon to perennial power Bald Eagle Area, who extended the streak to six with a 7-0 shut out victory over their visitors. In somewhat of a pitcher’s duel, the score was just 3-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, where the Lady Eagles plated four runs with two outs to put the game out of reach. With the loss, Clearfield dropped to 4-7 on the season, while BEA raised their record to 7-3.

Clearfield JV Football Team Picks Up First Win

SPRING MILLS – The Clearfield Bison junior varsity football team picked up their first win of the season on Monday night when they defeated Penns Valley 32-12. John Rowles got the scoring started for the Bison on a 9-yard touchdown run with Xavier Curry running in the 2-point conversion for an 8-0 lead. Rowles was the workhorse for the Bison, finishing the game with 143 yards on 23 carries. Curry added a “scoop and score” defensive TD in the second quarter to up the Bison lead to 14-0.
