The South African Police Services (SAPS) in KwaZulu-Natal says their compliance investigation into businessman Calvin Mathibeli’s security company in Durban has uncovered weapons linked to the volatile Inanda area. Authorities have confirmed that 11 firearms belonging to the security company are in police custody at the Inanda Police Station. At this stage, police have not established the reasons for the confiscation of the firearms.

The Durban High Court has ruled in favour of KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, after he approached the court to interdict and restrain a Durban businessman from defaming him on social media platforms. Calvin Mathibeli was ordered by the court to retract his statements which suggested Mkhwanazi was captured by private interests and involved in organised hits.

The two Ndimande brothers, allegedly linked to the murders of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and chef Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane in 2023, are to be transferred to the high-security eBongweni Super Max Correctional Facility in Kokstad. Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande appeared briefly before the Durban Magistrate’s Court via video link from a separate room. The matter has been postponed to the 4th March. This was their third appearance since their extradition from Eswatini in November.
