What was your first job as a journalist?
My first "job" as a journalist would have been my own website, The HomeWorld.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, a very long time ago.
How is social media changing news?
Social media is making news come at us faster and in easier to digest chunks, at the cost of accuracy.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use Google Docs a lot, because I go back and forth between my Chromebook and desktop. Also love Scrivener.
What's your favorite social network?
I still love Twitter, warts and all.
Why did you become a journalist?
I'm a better person when I'm creating things, and I feel best about myself when I'm telling a story.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I worked for my high school paper as part of the Journalism class. I wrote pieces about basketball games, and also some basic photography.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Stop worrying and just do it.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Any time when I'm available. I tend to be around in some capacity.
What's your favorite drink?
Drink? A nice coffee. Drink drink? A good stiff bourbon.
