What was your first job as a journalist?
I worked at the Daily Cougar for the University of Houston while I was in school.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Of course! I had an antique one until recently when I no longer had the room for it. It was broken, but it still hurt to give it up.
How is social media changing news?
For the worse and the better. While you can source news more quickly, people also want to be the first to publish. This can lead to errors.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Andrea from The Devil Wears Prada.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To pursue truth and to report truthfully, no matter the consequences.
Why did you become a journalist?
I always wanted to help people and to put to use my predilection for absorbing knowledge.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I'm most proud of working on several video-game related theory crafting and news article I wrote while at Edgy.app.
What's your favorite drink?
Coffee. Any and all kinds.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I enjoy reading pieces from Vice, Polygon, and The Atlantic.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
One of the most common misconceptions about covering technology is that I'm a genius; in reality, I just read...a lot.
