Pat Narduzzi will see it all when he evaluates video from Pitt’s Blue-Gold Game
When he sits down to evaluate the snapshots and video from Pitt's Blue-Gold Game - perhaps more leisurely than usual with no game scheduled until Aug. 30 - Pat Narduzzi will see some good, some bad and even some moments that make him angry. But the one headline from the Blue's 17-14 victory against the Gold on Saturday at Acrisure Stadium was this: "The main thing is we came out healthy. We couldn't have afforded any more injuries," he said at the end of the day.
Jerry DiPaola: 5 decades covering Pittsburgh sports has provided memories to last a lifetime
Apr. 13—I guess my love for the written word began on the living room floor at 326 Elizabeth Ave. I was nuts for the Pirates and Pirates box scores, and I used to spread out the Pittsburgh Press newspaper on the floor and devour every detail from the previous day's game.

Kenny Pickett returns to Acrisure for Pitt spring game, recalling what made Panthers ACC champions in 2021
Kenny Pickett stood alone Saturday in a corner of Acrisure Stadium, familiar turf to the former Pitt and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. While Pitt players — wearing the colors he used to wear — warmed up for the Blue-Gold Game that signifies the end of spring drills, Pickett was thinking about the message he planned to impart to them after the game as one of the honorary captains with former Pitt cornerback A.J. Woods. Pickett shared some of those thoughts with TribLive.
Wide receiver Kenny Johnson, cornerback Shadarian Harrison named most improved players during Pitt spring drills
Hours before Pitt’s Blue-Gold Game on Saturday at Acrisure Stadium, coach Pat Narduzzi named wide receiver Kenny Johnson and cornerback Shadarian Harrison winners of the Ed Conway Award, emblematic of the most improved players during spring drills. Johnson, a junior, is the first wide receiver so honored since Tre Tipton in 2019. Harrison, a sophomore, makes it two in a row for the defensive backs following safety Cruce Brookins.

Pitt Take 5: Will hopeful spring translate into a successful fall for Panthers?
Apr. 11—Spring football sounds a little like an oxymoron, two words that just don't fit perfectly into each other. Purists believe football is meant to be played in the fall. Spring football sounds a little like an oxymoron, two words that just don’t fit perfectly into each other. Purists believe football is meant to be played in the fall. Coaches love it, however, for the foundation it lays for summer training camp and how it reveals players with potential and those whose life’s work may be calling soon. But if players pay attention in the spring, nothing that pops up this summer will surprise them.
Pitt offensive coordinator Kade Bell looks for balance while developing his 4 QBs
Apr. 10—Kade Bell can't sit down with his father, Kerwin, to talk ball as often as he would like, but when they do, the ideas likely fly almost as fast as their offenses move from one play to the next. Often, the subject is quarterbacks, a given considering Kade is Pitt's offensive coordinator and Kerwin, the head coach at Western Carolina, played the position at the University of Florida and for 14 seasons in three pro leagues. kAm%96 DF3;64E H2D !:EE BF2CE6C324<D %9FCD52J H96?

All eyes on offensive line, linebackers, young running backs as Pitt approaches spring game
If you're planning to attend Pitt's Blue-Gold Game on Saturday - admission at Acrisure Stadium is free - you might want to see how and if the offensive line has improved. In Pitt's spring quest to get ready for summer training camp and set up the team for success in the fall, no unit is more important than the five guys up front, protectors of the quarterback, facilitators of the running backs.

Pitt notebook: Spring ball provides opportunity for Penn Hills' Julian Dugger to put lessons learned to work
Apr. 8—One look at Pitt's Julian Dugger immediately tells you he is seriously unlike many of his teammates. And not just because he plays quarterback, the most important position on the field. He stands 6-foot-3 and is 205 pounds, and he is blessed with those long legs built for striding that — if the blocking holds up — can get him into open spaces faster than many others who play his position. kAm*6E sF886C[ 2 C65D9:CE 7C6D9>2?[ <?@HD E96C6VD >@C6 E@ A=2J:?8 BF2CE6C324< 2E E96 prr =6G6= E92?

Mitch Keller fails to quiet Yankees' bats in Pirates' 9-4 loss in home opener
Apr. 4—Opening Day at PNC Park didn't start well for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The organization missed by a minute its intended start time, 4:12 p.m. to match the local area code. That was a trivial matter compared to what followed in the Pirates' 9-4 loss to the defending American League champion New York Yankees.
