ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Winter Park city leaders are evaluating ways to encourage homeowners to preserve historic homes as older homes are torn down to make way for newer construction throughout the city. City leaders have asked the city’s historic preservation board to review potential revisions to the city’s historic preservation ordinance and develop incentives for property owners to list their homes on the historic registry.

Bea Wilson earns June Garden of the Month award

Bea Wilson's beautification of her property at 1410 Neenah St. earned her the Watertown Arts Council's Garden of the Month award for June. Wilson has been gardening in the same location for 68 years and considers the work good exercise with a big payoff at the end. After planting flowers, she with her daughter, Julie, haul all the mulch bags and she spreads the mulching herself. Why? As per Wilson, "Because I just love my flowers.”

ORLANDO, Fla. — As Central Florida celebrates Pride Month in June, the owners of Anthem in downtown Orlando say they created the spot as a gathering place for the local LGBTQ community — beyond drinking and dancing. Anthem opened less than a year ago, and on a Friday or Saturday night, visitors will find it in full nightclub mode — with loud music, a packed house and lots of dancing.
