Throughout his journalism career, he has covered several major national events. Jeffrey Derderian was one of the first television reporters from New England to arrive in New York City after 9/11, spending three weeks documenting the aftermath. He also reported on the Columbine School Shooting, one of the earliest mass school shootings in the U.S., and covered the return of an astronaut to space. These events required clarity and sensitivity in storytelling.

His work has been featured on prominent national platforms. Derderian has appeared on the Today Show for storm-related reporting and provided coverage on CNN. He is seen as a leader in his field among peers and the viewing public.

Jeff is a freelance investigative reporter for WTNH-TV in New Haven, Connecticut. His work in the Hartford market includes developing story concepts, conducting thorough investigations, and delivering on-air and online coverage. Though adoption is still early in Connecticut, the system is available nationwide and presents significant potential for change.

His reporting has had a direct impact on policy. One of his investigations led to new laws protecting nurses and home healthcare workers in Connecticut after the killing of a visiting nurse. Derderian continues to give voice to overlooked stories and strives to inform the public through detailed research, fact-checking, and ethical reporting.

Jeff contributes regularly to WTNH-TV’s news team and digital platforms, with stories including a city mayor's public apology and an exclusive on a violent crime later picked up by a national publication.

Previously, he was a freelance reporter for News 12 Connecticut in Norwalk, focusing on long-form and investigative stories. He also spent over six years at WHDH-TV in Boston as a reporter and weekend fill-in anchor. Before that, he was an anchor and investigative reporter at WLNE-TV in Providence, leading a segment uncovering government waste and political misconduct. Derderian was also a lead breaking news reporter and filled in on evening newscasts.

His experience includes years in radio, where he hosted a live news and interview program in Boston. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Rhode Island College in Providence.
