Jeff Fager spent nearly four decades at CBS News, where he held positions ranging from field producer to executive producer of 60 Minutes and chairman of CBS News. Jeff is best known for his long association with 60 Minutes and for helping guide the news division during a period of change across broadcast and digital platforms.

Good morning. On behalf of Mary and all of Mike's family, welcome to this tribute. You know, this sight would have taken his breath away, seeing this place so full. He never took moments like this for granted. And more than anything else, Mike would have wanted a count. To determine something very important to him: did more people show up at his memorial service than showed up at Hewitt's? They were such competitors, such pals, and such rivals, always going at each other.

Our mom loved this church. She came here on many Sundays. We went through Sunday school here. Chris and Greg were acolytes here. Mary Lou and Jim were married here. That was the only time, and when Greg and Faye had Elsbeth and Brad baptized here, that our Dad came. He went to work every Sunday morning doing rounds and seeing all his patients, and she covered for him. "He's doing the Lord's work," she told us, and it made sense. She wasn't religious. She just liked it here. She liked the service.
